Free-kick masterclass with Mark Yeates and Matt Grimes

29 September 2014

The weekend's Football League action featured two delightful free-kicks, scored by Bradford City's Mark Yeates and Exeter City's Matt Grimes.

Yeates bent a 25-yard effort over the Port Vale wall and into the top corner of the net to earn the Bantams a point in a 1-1 draw. That ended Bradford's run of three consecutive home defeats.

In Devon, Exeter toppled Sky Bet League 2 leaders Bury 2-1 and Grimes' dead-ball wonder strike was the stand-out goal. The 19-year-old rifled ball across  goal and into the top-right corner with his left foot, leaving Shakers stopper Rob Lainton stranded.

Grimes' goal helped Exeter to their first victory at St James Park since April, with a Jimmy Keohane winner after 83 minutes ensuring it ended 2-1 to the Grecians.
