We round-up the recent action in the Final Third Development LeagueFinal Third Development League South Division
The South Division got off to a flying start, serving up a host of goals across five midweek fixtures, with Luton Town's 5-0 thrashing of Bournemouth the pick of the bunch in the new league.
The Hatters hit five second-half goals past the Cherries, with Jim Stevenson the star man. The former Histon midfielder notched a hat-trick, while Ross Lafayette and Frankie Musonda consolidated the victory.
Portsmouth also got off to a winning start, defeating Peterborough United 3-2 at the Nene Park Academy. Miles Storey, Andy Barcham and Ben Close strikes proved enough to see off a late fightback from Posh, who grabbed goals through Jack Friend and Grant McCann.
Elsewhere, Leyton Orient and AFC Wimbledon opened their account for the season, with both sides taking a point in an entertaining 2-2 draw. Cambridge United beat Gillingham 1-0 in Wednesday's fixture to begin their campaign with a victory.
Final Third Development League East Division
The East Division followed suit in providing plenty of goals, as Hartlepool United edged to a 4-3 win over Burton Albion on Wednesday.
A Michael Woods hat-trick helped Pools earn the victory in their opening game, despite the Brewers having initially led 2-0.
Scunthorpe United also began with three points after goals from Callum Howe and Kyle Wootton saw off Doncaster Rovers 2-1. Jack McKay scored the only goal for Rovers, who were under the tutelage of Rob Jones for the first time after his appointment as Development Team coach.
Final Third Development League West Division
The theme was maintained in the West Division with nine goals being scored across two matches this week.
Shrewsbury Town's Ashley Vincent scored late on in a six-goal thriller against Morecambe to ensure both sides left with a point.
Meanwhile, Jake Kirby and Ben Jago netted for Tranmere Rovers to get their season off to a winning start against Walsall, for whom Levi Rowley was on target.
Final Third Development League Cup
Fleetwood Town and Wigan Athletic did little to match the high-octane action seen across the regional leagues as they played out a 0-0 stalemate at Highbury in Group D of the Final Third Development League Cup.
