The Capital One Cup Fourth Round fixtures to be shown live on Sky Sports have been announced
Two matches in Round 4 of the Capital One Cup have been selected by Sky Sports for live television coverage, as the competition reaches the last 16 stage.First up, Sky Bet League 2 outfit Shrewsbury Town will host Premier League giants Chelsea in front of the cameras on Tuesday 28th October, with the game kicking-off at 7:45pm.
It will be the pair's first meeting in League Cup history and it'll provide Micky Mellon’s men with the opportunity to pull of another scalp – they've overcome Blackpool, Leicester City and Norwich City so far.
Chelsea progressed from Round 3 by beating Bolton Wanderers 2-1 at Stamford Bridge on Wednesday, with goals from Kurt Zouma and Oscar enough to see off a spirited effort from the Trotters.
The televised action in Round 4 will continue 24 hours later when holders Manchester City welcome Newcastle United to the Etihad Stadium in an all-Premier League encounter.
The two sides also met in this round last season, when extra-time goals from Alvaro Negredo and Edin Dzeko sent City through, on their way to winning the competition.
City's defence of the Capital One Cup got off to the perfect start as they put seven without reply past Sheffield Wednesday. Edin Dzeko and Frank Lampard each grabbed a brace, while Jesus Navas, Yaya Toure and Jose Angel Pozo also scored to cap a dominant second-half performance.
Newcastle had to work a little harder for their place in the next round after they were taken to extra-time against Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park.
Two goals from Emmanuel Riviere put the Magpies ahead following Dwight Gayle's opener. The home side then grabbed a late equaliser through Sullay Kaikai, forcing extra time. And in the additional 30 minutes it was Newcastle who stole it to progress, thanks to a Paul Dummett header.
