Steve Cotterill named Sky Bet League 1 Manager of the Month

10 October 2014

Bristol City boss Steve Cotterill has been named the Sky Bet League 1 Manager of the Month for September.

Four wins and a draw saw Cotterill’s fluent City team move five points clear at the top of the table.

He side scored three goals on four occasions and two once as they maintained their attacking surge.

Sky Sports’ Football League pundit Don Goodman said: “Steve is a character whose methods have inspired his team to great things in the opening quarter of the season.

“Twelve goals in three matches is no fluke. It is the result of a manager making his game plan crystal clear, and his players delivering it.”

Sky Bet Football Trading Manager Paul Lowery said: “Free scoring Bristol City scored 14 goals in five September Sky Bet League 1 fixtures to earn manager Steve Cotterill a well-deserved gong.

“Cotterill’s men hold one of three unbeaten records in the Sky Bet Football League after winning seven and drawing four of their 11 games this term.

“City’s stand-out result of the month was a 3-2 win over fellow promotion contenders MK Dons at Ashton Gate, the correct score landing a chunky 25/1 winner for punters.”

The judging panel for the Sky Bet Manager of the Month comprises Sky Sports’ Football League expert Don Goodman; Football League Chief Operating Officer Andy Williamson; League Managers’ Director Olaf Dixon and Sky Bet Football Trading Manager Paul Lowery.
