Nathan Thompson signs new Swindon Town deal

9 October 2014

Swindon Town captain Nathan Thompson has signed a new two-and-a-half year deal with the Robins.

The 23-year-old has agreed a deal to keep him at the County Ground until 2017.

"In order for me to progress and continue the way I'm developing it's important that I stayed here and I'm absolutely over the moon to have signed a new contract," he told the club's official website.

"The captain side of things has brought out different responsibilities from me. I feel that over the last 18 months, I've been able to develop my knowledge and understanding of the game.

Delighted chairman Lee Power told the Swindon Advertiser: "I believe it's the most fundamental signing since I've been here.  Nathan's the man, he's the captain of this football club and the leader of this football club.

"No doubt Nathan will play in the Premier League.  I think that we've got something very, very special here. I think it's a big day for this football club."
