Ipswich boss Mick McCarthy has been named the Sky Bet Championship Manager of the Month for September. The twin strike force of David McGoldrick and Daryl Murphy proved too much for the opposition in September and helped deliver an almost perfect month with 13 points from a possible 15.
The clever mix of players and work rate enables McCarthy to start considering the Play-Offs as a real possibility.
Sky Sports’ Football League pundit Don Goodman said: “Mick and his team were on a bit of a charge in September.
“They certainly have goals in them, and it's given them a platform and the belief to mount a genuine Play-Off challenge.”
Sky Bet Football Trading Manager Paul Lowery said: “Ipswich’s march up the table has prompted us to slash their price for the title from 33/1 at the beginning of September to 16/1. And we make the tractor Boys 5/1 for promotion.”
The judging panel for the Sky Bet Manager of the Month comprises Sky Sports’ Football League expert Don Goodman; Football League Chief Operating Officer Andy Williamson; League Managers’ Director Olaf Dixon and Sky Bet Football Trading Manager Paul Lowery.
