Mansfield Town's injury crisis worsens

28 October 2014

Mansfield Town's incredible bad luck with injuries has continued with the news that Ritchie Sutton is the latest player facing a spell on the sidelines.

Sutton suffered a jaw injury during the 1-1 draw with York City on Saturday and scans have revealed a fracture, leaving the defender out for between four and six weeks.

The Stags were already without five players at Bootham Crescent, with Alex Fisher (dislocated shoulder), Kieron Freeman (knee),  Luke Jones (Achilles), Matt Rhead (hamstring) and Simon Heslop (hamstring) unavailable.

Meanwhile, Fergus Bell (dislocated collarbone) has been soldiering on in recent weeks despite not being fully fit. The midfielder was again named in the squad against the Minstermen at the weekend.

Mansfield manager Paul Cox is hopeful that on-loan full-back Freeman and striker Rhead will not be missing for too much longer.
