Luton Town defender Luke Wilkinson has been named the Sky Bet League 2 Player of the Month for September.
The Hatters did not concede a goal with Wilkinson in the side in September. The centre-back has been immense since recovering from a back injury and added to his game with his headed goal against Oxford United.
Luton Town manager John Still said: “Luke has done tremendously since joining us and his form is testament to a fantastic attitude.
“Baring in mind he had a little injury during pre-season he has worked incredibly hard to get fully fit and play an important role in the team.
“The defence as a whole has been magnificent but I still think you’re yet to see the best of Luke Wilkinson.”
Sky Sports’ Football League pundit Don Goodman said: “He has thankfully recovered from a back injury and his presence makes the Luton defence difficult to breach.
“They did not concede a goal in September, need I say more.”
Sky Bet Football Trading Manager Paul Lowery said: “It would have been 100/1 for Luton to have kept clean sheets in each of the four games in which Luke Wilkinson played, but that’s exactly what they did.
“Luke also grabbed himself a goal during Luton’s 2-0 victory over Oxford. He was 25/1 to grab the first of the game, and 12/1 to score at any point during that game.”
The judging panel for the Sky Bet Player of the Month comprises Sky Sports Football League expert Don Goodman; Football League Head of Communications John Nagle; League Managers Association Director Olaf Dixon and Sky Bet Football Trading Manager Paul Lowery.
