Hartlepool United winger Jack Compton will be out for a minimum of three months as he requires a knee operation.
The 26-year-old, who has made eight appearances this season, had to be substituted in the first half against Portsmouth after suffering the injury two weeks ago.Scans later revealed he had suffered a tear to the lateral meniscus in his knee and he will now undergo surgery on Thursday.
"We'll know much more after the operation but the surgeon has advised that Jack will be out of action for at least three months," club physio Ian Gallagher told Hartlepool's website.
