In pictures: Chesterfield v Sheffield United

6 October 2014

Chesterfield boss Paul Cook hailed a "great day" for the club as his side beat Sheffield United on Saturday.

The Spireites established a commanding three-goal lead thanks to goals from Jimmy Ryan, Gary Roberts and Eoin Doyle in a Sky Bet League 1 match that saw both sides reduced to ten men.

But Sheffield United rallied in the final ten minutes and strikes from Marc McNulty and Neill Collins cut the home side's lead to a single goal. Despite this late wobble the Spireites managed to hang on for the three points.

Speaking to the official Chesterfield website, manager Cook said: "Today is a great day for Chesterfield Football Club and I hope everyone can enjoy it but at the same time it’s just one game. It’s great to beat a team like Sheffield United but we shouldn’t think we’ve cracked it and although today’s our day we’ll move on to next week.”
