Hartlepool United manager Paul Murray seeks drummers to crank up the noise at Victoria Park

28 October 2014

New Hartlepool United boss Paul Murray has appealed for fans to bang the drum for the Sky Bet League 2 side.

The new gaffer at the north-east side wants to make Victoria Park a more intimidating place to play, so the club has asked for season ticket-holders to come forward and drum out a beat from the Town End.

Murray told the official Pools website: "I know what kind of supporters they are at Hartlepool and how passionate they are about their team.

"My idea is that we get a big drum in the middle of the Town End behind the goal and really try to get the atmosphere going inside the ground and intimidate our opposition."

Hartlepool currently sit bottom of League 2, tied on 11 points with Tranmere Rovers in 23rd place. So far this season they have only one on one of seven outings in the league at The Vic, so an up-turn in home form is vital if they are to climb away from the relegation places.

"We need to make Victoria Park a hard place to come for visiting teams and I know that the fans will do anything they can to help with that process," said Murray, who took over at the club last week.

If you are an existing season ticket-holder who never misses a Hartlepool home game, and you think you could help get the crowd jumping, then the club wants to hear from you by email to media@hartlepoolunited.co.uk.
