David Flitcroft felt Bury produced their best display so far this season as they won 3-0 at home to Portsmouth.
Danny Mayor claimed a ninth-minute opener before Ryan Lowe doubled the Shakers' lead in the 44th minute.Danny Rose then sealed victory in the 61st minute to send Bury back into second place in Sky Bet League 2.
"It was a scintillating performance but a powerful, pressing, physical one as well," said Flitcroft. "The boys put an unbelievable shift in.
"We knew Portsmouth switch to a diamond at times and we executed our game plan with brilliance, with power and pace.
"It was really destructive and the goals were exquisite. Individually and collectively, each one was brilliant.
"Nicky Adams' ball for Ryan Lowe's goal was on a plate, he showed great athleticism to get the ball over.
"We know there's goals in our team, it was the clean sheet that really pleased me. Portsmouth are a team that should be up there but they came up against a real force."
