Darren Ferguson wanted more than four

11 October 2014

Darren Ferguson watched Peterborough United beat Crawley Town 4-1 and felt they could have won by more.

Leading scorer Izale McLeod gave Crawley the lead after only two minutes but Posh hit back with goals from Michael Smith and Christian Burgess before the interval.

The visitors went on to clinch a straightforward victory with Marcus Maddison making it 3-1 10 minutes after the break before Conor Washington fired the fourth two minutes later.

Yet Ferguson believes there is still plenty more to come from his side and said: "We should have won by more, especially after going behind so poorly early in the game.

"It was a comfortable victory and you have to take your chances."

Washington claimed his second Posh goal after Ferguson said he got the final touch when defender Christian Burgess headed towards goal from a corner by Jon Taylor.

Ferguson added:"We were very, very dangerous on the counter attack. Our second goal came off Conor's head and the third and fourth goals killed the game off. It could have been more on the counter attack.

"I had a good feeling for the game and in the second half we were very good.

"You aim for two points a game on average, and if we win against Barnsley we will be bang on that mark."
