Notts County boss Shaun Derry insists Roy Carroll is the best goalkeeper in Sky Bet League 1 after his penalty save secured a 1-0 win over Gillingham.
Shaun Harrad pounced from close range to give the Magpies the lead, latching on to Jake Cassidy's flick-on to head past Stephen Bywater 10 minutes before half-time.Carroll secured all three points for the hosts - stretching their unbeaten run to seven games in all competitions in the process - when he saved Luke Norris' penalty 10 minutes from time.
"I've absolutely no doubt in mind at all that I have the best goalkeeper in League 1," said Derry, who signed a new contract until 2016 on Friday.
"Roy was immense as always. He was booked for something before the penalty before it was taken and I have absolutely no idea why.
"But it was a fantastic save. Whether there was a bit of gamesmanship in the build-up to it, who knows?
"If that was a bit of gamesmanship then that's brilliant - it's what we want. But, at the same time, he's done his job and that's why he is here with me.
"It's been a great week for us. I've signed a new contract, we've got back-to-back wins, which is hard to achieve at any level of the game.
"It's a real difficult level. We had a great win on Tuesday against Crewe and I wanted us to back it up against Gillingham and we did."
