Sky Bet Championship round-up

22 November 2014

Malky Mackay was denied a dream start to his reign as Wigan Athletic manager as Middlesbrough came from behind to claim a 1-1 draw at DW Stadium in the Sky Bet Championship.

Shaun Maloney put the Latics ahead as they looked to bounce back from two straight defeats, but Patrick Bamford equalised in the second half as Boro spoilt the party.

Derby County extended their advantage at the top of the table to three points thanks to a 2-1 win at Watford, as goals from Jordon Ibe and Craig Bryson either side of Gianni Munari's strike gave the Rams victory.

Bournemouth twice led at home to Ipswich Town through Yann Kermorgant and Matt Ritchie but had to settle for a 2-2 draw as Teddy Bishop and Daryl Murphy replied for the away side.

Blackburn Rovers overcame the dismissal of Tom Cairney as a Jordan Rhodes brace helped them come from behind to beat Leeds United 2-1 at Ewood Park, with Souleymane Doukara having put United ahead.

Down at the bottom, Blackpool and Bolton Wanderers shared the spoils in a 1-1 Bloomfield Road draw as Jacob Murphy put the Seasiders ahead but Chung-Yong Lee equalised for Neil Lennon's men.

Norwich City and Brighton & Hove Albion drew 3-3 in an action-packed encounter at Carrow Road, with Jonny Howson, Russell Martin and Gary Hooper netting for the Canaries, who had Bradley Johnson sent off late on, and the visitors responding through Bruno, Kazenga LuaLua and an Adrian Colunga penalty.

Clayton Donaldson scored the only goal of the game as Birmingham City won 1-0 at Rotherham United, while Britt Assombalonga, Matty Fryatt and Henri Lansbury struck in a 3-0 romp for Nottingham Forest at Wolverhampton Wanderers.

Charlton Athletic and Millwall drew 0-0 and the lunchtime Yorkshire derby between Huddersfield Town and Sheffield Wednesday also finished goalless, with Owls striker Stevie May going closest to breaking the deadlock with a 74th-minute shot that struck both crossbar and post.
