Six out as Scunthorpe United reshape

8 May 2014

Christian Ribeiro and Etienne Esajas are among a list of six players who have been released by Scunthorpe United, the Lincolnshire club have confirmed.

Welsh defender Ribeiro arrived on a permanent deal at Glanford Park in 2002, scoring twice in almost 50 appearances while Dutch midfielder Esajas struggled to make an impact in his only season with the Iron.

Young striker Connor Jennings will also be shown the door having spent the latter part of the season on loan at Skrill Premier League side Grimsby while winger Andy Welsh announced his departure earlier in the day via Twitter.

Former youth-team products Jamie Wootton and George Grayson complete the list of released players having failed to make the grade at senior level.

Boss Russ Wilcox will hold further meetings with as-yet unnamed players during the coming week as he builds a squad for League One.
