Burton Albion have completed the permanent signing of Shane Cansdell-Sherriff.
The central defender has put pen to paper on a two-year contract following his release by Preston North End.
Cansdell-Sherriff finished the season on loan at the Pirelli Stadium from the Lilywhites and played at Wembley on Monday as Albion were beaten 1-0 by Fleetwood Town in the Sky Bet League 2 Play-Off Final.
The former Shrewsbury defender made 22 appearances for Preston during his time with the Lancashire club, scoring once.
Meanwhile, Burton have released six out-of-contract players. Zander Diamond, Gary Alexander, Jack Dyer, Michael Symes, David Gray and Freddy Hall have all been told by manager Gary Rowett that they will not be offered new deals.
