Bournemouth midfielder Richard Hughes has announced his retirement.
The 34-year-old played seven times this season and 21 in the Cherries' successful League One promotion campaign having returned to the south coast after a 10-year absence for a second spell.
" I just feel now is the right time to hang up my boots," he told the Daily Echo.
"We have enough players in my position and their performances have been outstanding. They have really grown as players and there is no necessity for me to be there any longer because we are really well catered for in that position.
"To play, albeit a minor role, in arguably two of the most successful seasons in the club's history has been a source of major enjoyment, pride and satisfaction. I am very fortunate to have had the opportunity to end on this note.
"I am doing it for the right reasons and with no regrets."
