Bird and Webster to stay at Pompey

9 May 2014

Portsmouth have released nine players but striker Ryan Bird and defender Adam Webster will remain at the club.

George Branford, Ashley Harris, Jake Jervis, Yassin Moutaouakil, Marcos Painter, Thery Racon, Phil Smith, Liam Triggs and Josh Warren have all departed Fratton Park as boss Andy Awford begins rebuilding his squad.

Pompey have taken up options on Bird and Webster's respective contracts and are still in talks with Jed Wallace, Nicky Shorey, Bondz N'Gala, Nick Awford and Jack Maloney, whose deals expire this summer.

Loan players Daniel Alfei (Swansea), Trevor Carson (Bury), Michael Drennan (Aston Villa) and Danny Hollands (Charlton) have returned to their parent clubs.

Pompey have also offered first-year professional contracts to academy players Ben Close and Bradley Tarbuck.
