Walsall captain Andy Butler will leave the club after he turned down the offer of a new contract.
The Saddlers offered their skipper an option of a one-year extension to his current contract, which is due to expire this summer, but the 30-year-old has chosen to look for pastures new.
Having arrived in November 2010, Butler went on to make more than 100 appearances for the Sky Bet League One club and current boss Dean Smith had nothing but high praise for the defender following the news.
"It's his prerogative," the Saddlers boss told the club's official website.
"He wants to look elsewhere and see what other options are available to him.
"If his future does lie away from us we wish him well because he has been a fantastic servant.
"He has been a tremendous captain and leader and a well-respected figure both on and off the field.
"It's been a pleasure to work with him."
