Resurgent Sheffield United win again

4 March 2014

Sheffield United continued their remarkable rise up the Sky Bet League One table as they claimed a 2-0 win over Peterborough United.

The Blades have now won eight consecutive games in all competitions and are just eight points behind their opponents - who occupy the final play-off place - thanks to Ben Davies' free-kick and a late Chris Porter strike.

Rotherham missed the chance to move within six points of the automatic promotion places as they were held to a goalless draw away at Colchester.

Sanchez Watt hit the bar for the home side in the second half but neither team could break the deadlock as the Us moved a single point above the relegation zone.

Matt Tubbs scored in stoppage-time as Crawley snatched a 1-1 draw against Stevenage.

Boro were going for a third win in a row and looked on course to secure it after Bira Dembele opened the scoring but Tubbs, who had earlier had a penalty saved, popped up late on to leave Graham Westley's men three points adrift of safety.
