Chesterfield have signed Derby County striker Mason Bennett on a month-long loan deal.
The highly-rated teenager, a England Under-19 international, will go straight into the Spireites squad for their game against fellow promotion hopefuls Oxford United at the Proact Stadium on Saturday.
The Blues remain top of Sky Bet League 2 despite a recent dip in results which has seen Paul Cook's side win just one of their last five league matches.
Following the 1-1 draw at AFC Wimbledon on Tuesday night Cook bemoaned his side's "lack of a cutting edge" and the Chesterfield manager hopes that the arrival of Bennett will reignite the Spireites' title challenge.
Derby academy product Bennett became the club's youngest-ever player when he made his full debut in a 2-0 defeat at Middlesbrough on 22nd October 2011 at the age of 15 years and 99 days.
He became the Rams' youngest goal scorer at the age of 16 years and 174 days when he netted in a 5-0 home victory over Tranmere Rovers in the FA Cup third round on 5th January 2013.
Bennett has made more than 30 appearance in total for Derby - 14 of them this season, although just one of those has been a start.
The 17-year-old has made just one appearance from the bench for the Championship club in the past two months.
