Former England international Dave Beasant has joined Stevenage's backroom staff as the club continue preparations for their bid for an instant return to Sky Bet League 1.
Beasant, who made history when he became the first goalkeeper to save an FA Cup Final penalty, will initially be installed as goalkeeper coach but Boro boss Graham Westley expects bigger things to come from the former Wimbledon man.
"Dave enjoyed a fantastic playing career and has already undertaken some important coaching roles at both club and international levels," Westley told the club's official website
"My feeling is that he will be much more than a goalkeeping coach here. But we will let things evolve one step at a time.
"He is a grounded guy, a tremendously experienced man and a fabulous professional. The players will benefit no end from his guidance."
Dan Barnes will also become part of Westley's staff after he was promoted to fitness coach from the club's academy.
