Luke Chadwick leaves Milton Keynes Dons for Cambridge United

7 June 2014

Luke Chadwick has left Milton Keynes Dons for Cambridge United.

The former Manchester United midfielder joined the U's on loan in March and scored twice in 10 appearances as they clinched promotion back to the Football League.

And after finishing his six-year stay with Karl Robinson's men the 33-year-old has signed a one-year deal with the side he supports.

Robinson told the club's official website: "I'm happy that Luke's dream has come true by joining the club he's supported since he was a boy. I've had the utmost respect for Luke since the moment I met him and I didn't want to stand in his way.

"He is a unique character but also a talented footballer and I'm delighted to have had the opportunity of working with him.

"I want the MK Dons fans to never forget Luke because I, the staff and the players that have worked with him certainly won't. I hope he gets the send off he deserves when we play Cambridge in pre-season."

Chadwick added: "I'm obviously sad to say goodbye but now is the right time to move on. I've got the opportunity to play for the team I've always supported which is brilliant for me but obviously I'm sad to leave Milton Keynes."
