Burton Albion have agreed a fee with Stevenage for striker Lucas Akins, manager Gary Rowett has confirmed.
Despite recently agreeing a one-year extension with Stevenage, the 25-year-old winger handed in a transfer request citing non-footballing reasons as his decision to leave.
"A fee has been agreed between both clubs and now it's a case of seeing if we can get the deal over the line with the player," Rowett told the Burton Mail.
"He's a player we've liked for a while and for whatever reason he wants to come back up north.
"It's going to be a case of whether we can meet the player's demands."
Akins made his name at Tranmere, where he played alongside current Brewers players Adam McGurk and Robbie Weir, before moving on to Stevenage, for whom he scored 15 times in 86 appearances.
