Blackpool now have nine professional players on their books after midfielder Jacob Mellis put pen to paper on a one-year contract at Bloomfield Road.
The Seasiders face a race against time to compile a squad for their Sky Bet Championship opener on August 9 at Nottingham Forest with Mellis just the third signing of the Jose Riga regime.
The ex-Barnsley midfielder, who was a free agent following his exit from Oakwell, has been training with the club for a couple of weeks and on Monday finally agreed to a one-year permanent deal, with an option for another 12 months.
"I'm happy to be here. I've been here for two weeks now and I've got used to the place," the 23-year-old told the club's official website.
"I'm looking to come here and be successful."
The former Chelsea trainee follows Tony McMahon, who was with the club last season, and Sergei Zenjov in agreeing terms with Blackpool following Riga's arrival in mid-June.
However, the Tangerines are still way short of fielding a full squad when the campaign begins in 12 days and, alarmingly, they still remain without a goalkeeper.
