Sheffield Wednesday midfielder David Prutton has targeted a return to first-team action in March.
The 32-year-old former Southampton, Nottingham Forest and Leeds player, sidelined since the end of September, had surgery to resolve an ankle problem at the turn of the year.
"I went to see the specialist in London last week and he seemed fairly happy with it so it's going to be another six weeks before I come back," he told the club's official website.
"It would be nice if I got back in at the beginning of March.
"The season finishes in May so I want to be in a position, given my contract situation, where I can remind people what I can do, be it here or wherever the future takes me."
Prutton, who arrived at Hillsborough on a free transfer in May 2011, signed a new one-year contract with the Owls last summer.
