Michael Keane back at Manchester United after spell with Derby County

On-loan Manchester United defender Michael Keane has returned to the Premier League champions following the end of his loan spell with Derby County

Keane made eight appearances, five starts, during his two-month stay at the iPro Stadium but the 21-year-old centre-back has expressed a desire to be playing first-team football on a regular basis.

Rams head coach Steve McClaren said: "We're disappointed to lose Michael but we couldn't guarantee him games and he wants to play football right now.

"He did well for us when he was in the side and we wish him well for the future."

With skipper Richard Keogh back to full fitness after a knee injury and Jake Buxton in outstanding form, Keane had been on the bench for Derby's last three matches.

Meanwhile, another departure at the Sky Bet Championship club has seen Saul Deeney's contract cancelled by mutual consent.

The 30-year-old goalkeeper joined the Rams in the summer of 2009 following a spell with Burton but h e made only three first-team appearances - the last of which was in May 2010.
