Barnsley have agreed a deal to take Crystal Palace defender Jack Hunt on loan until the end of the season.
The 23-year-old full-back made more than 100 appearances for Huddersfield before the Eagles made their move to take him to Selhurst Park during the summer.
However, Hunt's career at Palace has been hindered after he broke an ankle in September, prompting Danny Wilson to make his move as a replacement for the injured Ryan McLaughlin.
"Ryan had a scan earlier this week and it revealed a tear, which means he'll be out for a minimum of four weeks, which is very unfortunate," Wilson told the club's official website.
"We've had to look elsewhere because we have a lot of big games coming up.
"For what's available at this moment in time, Jack's head and shoulders above everyone else.
"He's been injured for a while and is short of match practice but we know enough about him to know what a terrific player he is.
"He has terrific pace, defends well and passes it well and is an attack-minded full-back."
