Birmingham City have snapped up centre-back Aaron Martin on a short-term deal until the end of the season.
The 24-year-old's arrival at St Andrew's provides a much-needed boost after manager Lee Clark recently lost the loan services of Swansea centre-half Kyle Bartley and Fulham's Dan Burn - both of whom recalled by their parent clubs.
Martin is a free agent having seen his contract at Southampton cancelled by the Premier League club on Tuesday.
He had failed to appear for Saints since their promotion to the top flight in 2012, having joined the south-coast outfit in 2009 - racking up a total of 29 appearances.
Martin spent the first half of last term on loan at Crystal Palace before enjoying a 12-match stint with Coventry towards the end of the campaign. He has been sidelined due to injury over the first half of this season but is now fully fit.
Martin is not expected to be the last new face at Birmingham before the close of the January transfer window at 11pm on Friday as Blues boss Clark looks to bolster his ranks.
