Sky Bet Championship deadline day round-up

3 February 2014

It was a busy deadline day for Queens Park Rangers with Harry Redknapp securing the services of five players, including four strikers.

After learning that star front man Charlie Austin could miss the rest of the season, Redknapp loaned in Wolverhampton Wanderers' Kevin Doyle, West Ham United's Modibo Maiga, Desportivo Brazil's Guilherme Dellatorre and Manchester United's Will Keane.

Defender Aaron Hughes was the other deadline-day signing to arrive the London club.

Sky Bet Championship leaders Leicester City strengthened their front line with the addition of Kevin Phillips and that signing looks to be paying dividends already, with the 40-year-old netting the winner at Bournemouth at the weekend.

Craig Conway was another new signing to have an instant impact at the weekend, after the new Blackburn Rovers' man set-up a Grant Hanley header.

The destination of Tom Ince was much talked about during the January transfer window and he eventually chose Crystal Palace, on a loan deal until the end of the season. Stephen Dobbie moved the other way on loan, joining Blackpool for the fourth time in his career.

The struggling Tangerines also brought in Faris Haroun after his departure from Middlesbrough, defender Tony McMahon and striker Andy Keogh.

Incoming activity for Boro included the addition of two loan signings on deadline day, with Lee Tomlin and Danny Graham arriving at the Riverside.

Ed Upson swapped Yeovil Town for Millwall, while Liam Trotter left the Lions and joined Bolton Wanderers on loan.

Leicester's Martyn Waghorn also made a Championship loan switch, joining Wigan Athletic, and Manchester United's Federico Macheda is back in the division, with Birmingham City. He scored a last-gasp leveller against Derby County on his Blues debut on Saturday.

Nottingham Forest's Rafik Djebbour was another player to have a debut to remember after he scored the club's third against Yeovil Town on Sunday. Djebbour was joined at the City Ground by defensive duo Jack Hobbs and Danny Fox and Sunderland midfielder David Vaughan.

One new arrival in the Sky Bet Championship who had a debut to forget for his new club was Barnsley's Emmanuel Frimpong. After completing his deadline day switch from Arsenal, the midfielder was sent off for two bookable offences in the Tykes' defeat against Sheffield Wednesday.
