Influential Nottingham Forest midfielder Henri Lansbury has been ruled out for up to three months with a fractured lower back.
The news comes as a big blow to the club's promotion aspirations, with the Reds currently fifth in the Championship and just six points off the top two.
Lansbury, who joined from Arsenal in the summer of 2012, has started 26 of Forest's 28 league games this term, scoring seven goals in the process.
But he now faces a battle to play again this season as he faces a lengthy spell on the sidelines.
It comes just a day after fellow Forest midfielder David Vaughan, on loan from Sunderland, was also sidelined for up to three months with a knee injury.
Billy Davies' side on Wednesday night saw off Preston 2-0 in an FA Cup fourth-round replay to set up a fifth round tie against Sheffield United.
