Capital One Cup Final in numbers

We take a look at the numbers that make up this Sunday's Capital One Cup Final between Manchester City and Sunderland

1 – Sunday's Capital One Cup Final will be Sunderland's first appearance at the new Wembley.

1 – The Black Cats' only League Cup Final to date, in 1985, ended with a 1-0 loss to Norwich City.

1 – Sunderland have only kept one clean sheet in the competition so far, against Peterborough United in the third round, compared to City's four.

2 – Manchester City are two-time winners of the League Cup; they beat West Bromwich Albion in 1970 and overcame Newcastle United in 1976.

2 – Sunderland have won 1-0 in their past two meetings against City, most recently in November.

3 – City have made three League Cup finals in total and all have involved three goals, finishing 2-1.

3 – James Milner has the most assists of any player heading to Wembley, with three in the competition to date.

3 – Gus Poyet is the third manager to take charge of Sunderland in this year's Capital One Cup. Paolo Di Canio was at the helm for the club's Second Round success against Milton Keynes Dons, while Kevin Ball was in charge for their Round 3 victory against Peterborough, before Poyet took over.

5 – The five officials appointed to the Capital One Cup Final are Martin Atkinson (referee), Steve Child (assistant referee), Simon Long (assistant referee), Neil Swarbrick (fourth official) and Harry Lennard (reserve assistant).

6 – Edin Dzeko and Alvara Negredo have six goals each in the tournament.

10 – The majority of goals that Sunderland have scored in the Capital One Cup – 10 of 13 - have come from the right boot of a player.

19 – Sunderland have picked up 19 yellow cards in the competition, compared to City's six.

35 - Over 35 first-class international broadcasters will be covering the showpiece Final live.

45 – Sunderland have only scored one goal in the first 45 minutes of any game in the competition.

77 – Leicester City's Lloyd Dyer is the only player to score against Manchester City so far in this year's Capital One Cup – his goal in the Foxes' Quarter-Final tie against City came in the 77th minute at the King Power Stadium. 

136 – Manchester City and Sunderland have clashed 136 times over the years. City hold the upper hand in the head-to-head record with 62 wins compared to Sunderland's 50. The other 24 meetings have ended level.

175 – Sunday's Capital One Cup Final will be broadcast to fans in over 175 territories worldwide.

1973 – Sunderland are hunting for their first piece of silverware since the 1973 FA Cup.

1983 – This will be the first cup meeting between the two sides since a 1983 FA Cup match, which City won 2-0.

90,000 – An electric atmosphere is expected inside the 90,000-capacity Wembley Stadium when the teams take to the hallowed turf to battle for the Capital One Cup.
