Barry Ferguson calls for Blackpool support

21 February 2014

Caretaker manager Barry Ferguson has urged fans to forget their displeasure with chairman Karl Oyston and cheer Blackpool to victory against Birmingham on Saturday.

A group of supporters are planning to protest during the game at Bloomfield Road, but Ferguson hopes they will restrict it to before and after the encounter.

The Seasiders are without a win in 15 games and Ferguson himself has yet to taste victory while holding the reins.

The 36-year-old told the Blackpool Gazette: "I can't tell the fans what to do, but at the end of the day we have 90 minutes here and we need to win a game.

"The games I've been in charge against Nottingham Forest and Doncaster, the fans have been unbelievable.

"I'd expect the same on Saturday."

Blackpool are desperate for a win and Ferguson is confident the supporters will back the team.

He said: "We are all pulling in the same direction and we all want the same thing, which is three points.

"I'd expect the fans to get behind us."
