Middlesbrough have appointed Steve Agnew as their new assistant head coach.
Agnew has left his post as assistant to Hull City boss Steve Bruce to return to the Riverside, where he once coached the reserve team before becoming assistant manager in 2008.The 49-year-old took temporary charge of the first-team when Gordon Strachan left the club in 2010.
Agnew fills the void created by the departure of Craig Hignett, who left his role as Aitor Karanka's assistant earlier this month.
"I'm very pleased – Steve was our first choice. He's a very good person who knows the club. He’s worked here in our Academy and with the first-team squad," Karakna told www.mfc.co.uk.
"Steve knows the league, he was promoted with Hull and he knows the Premier League.
"He brings everything I want in an assistant and I have no doubts he is the right person."
