Watford supporter Roy Moore has been named the Sky Bet Championship Fan of the Month for November.
Roy created the Watford fan group - the 1881 Movement - during pre-season in 2013. The 1881 aims to create a more active, vibrant section of support at Vicarage Road.Roy organised a 6,800 piece Remembrance Poppy mosaic in the Rookery stand, which was displayed through the minute’s silence against Millwall on 1st November.
The display drew acclaim from Watford Chief Executive Scott Duxbury.
Roy said: “I’ve supported the Hornets since 1980, when I used to have to stand on milk crates to watch the game.
“The 1881 takes up all of my spare time, whether it’s running meetings at the club, contacting flag manufacturers, running the twitter account or setting up for a matchday.
“I’m very proud to win the award – not only for me personally, but for what our fans have created in the stands.
“In the past when Watford have struggled, the fans have always come together, and the 1881 is no exception.
“This award is a testament to the group for their passion in creating a great atmosphere.”
Watford CEO Scott Duxbury said: “For me, the Remembrance events organised by Roy reinforced just how special a club Watford is.
“I sent my personal thanks to Roy for what was a truly stunning achievement.
“The whole matchday also owes a debt of gratitude to not only staff from within the club, who worked tirelessly in collaboration with supporters to ensure it was a success, but also the volunteers who were here in great numbers on the morning of the game.”
