Capital One Cup Round 5 round-up

Chelsea, Sheffield United, Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur will compete in the Capital One Cup Semi-Finals after an exciting week of Round 5 action.

The Blues and the Blades were the first two teams to advance to the last four, beating Derby County and Southampton respectively on Tuesday night.

Chelsea were 3-1 winners at the iPro Stadium in front of the Sky Sports cameras thanks to goals from Eden Hazad, Filipe Luis and Andre Schurrle.

Sky Bet League 1's Sheffield United caused the shock of the round by dumping out Premier League Southampton 1-0, with Marc McNulty scoring the decisive goal.

On Wednesday, Liverpool and Tottenham advanced to the Semi-Finals by comfortably overcoming Bournemouth and Newcastle United respectively.

Brendan Rodgers' Reds were 3-1 victors on the South Coast in an impressive performance that included a Raheem Sterling brace, either side of a Lazar Markovic strike.

Four-time winners Spurs, meanwhile, thumped Newcastle 4-0 at White Hart Lane. Nabil Bentaleb got the ball rolling before second-half goals from Nacer Chadli, Harry Kane and Roberto Soldado secured the routine victory.

The draw for the Semi-Finals was made immediately after Wednesday night's action, and it paired Liverpool with Chelsea, while Spurs will take on Nigel Clough's Sheffield United over two legs.

All first leg ties are to be played during the week commencing 19th January 2015, with second leg ties taking place in the week beginning 26th January 2015.

The first legs will take place during the week commencing 19th January 2015, with Liverpool hosting Chelsea on Tuesday 20th January and Tottenham Hotspur welcoming Sheffield United to White Hart Lane 24 hours later.

The return fixtures will then be held over the week commencing 26th January. Brendan Rodgers' Reds will go to Stamford Bridge on Tuesday 27th January, before Bramall Lane hosts the second leg between Sheffield United and Spurs.

All Semi-Final ties are 7.45pm kick-offs and will be screened live on Sky Sports.
