Troy Deeney signs new Watford deal

27 August 2014

Watford captain Troy Deeney has signed a new four-year deal at Vicarage Road.

The striker has been at the Hornets since 2010 and his new contract would mean a total eight-year stay with the Hertfordshire outfit.

Deeney, 26, has been subject to speculation linking him with a move to the Barclays Premier League but has now put an end to that by penning an extension with the Sky Bet Championship club.

He has started the 2014/15 season with two goals in four appearances and has scored a total of 62 goals in 181 appearances since arriving from Walsall, where he came through the academy, for a six-figure fee four years ago.

After confirmation of the deal, a delighted Deeney posted on his official Instagram account: "Happy to have signed my new four-year contract with Watford and put to bed these transfer rumours eyes firmly on promotion and another 20+ goals. Hopefully you're all as happy as I am with the news."
