Patrick Bamford makes Middlesbrough loan move

29 August 2014

Middlesbrough have signed highly-rated forward Patrick Bamford on a season-long loan from Chelsea.

Bamford is highly thought of at Stamford Bridge and the 20-year-old spent last season on loan at MK Dons and Derby, playing a total of 53 games and netting on 25 occasions.

In the previous season, he bagged four goals in 14 games for MK Dons while he has also featured for England at various youth international levels.

He joined Chelsea in 2012 from Nottingham Forest and is yet to make his professional debut for the Blues, although he featured, and scored, for them in pre-season.

He is the second player to move to Boro on loan from Chelsea after Nigeria international Kenneth Omeruo joined the Teessiders for his second stint with the club.

The signing of Bamford comes days after Spurs youngster Ryan Fredericks arrived on loan for the 2014/15 campaign.
