Janoi Donacien added to Tranmere Rovers ranks

18 August 2014

Tranmere Rovers have moved to bolster their defensive options with the loan signing of Aston Villa's Janoi Donacien.

Rovers have injury concerns over their captain Marcus Holness, Danny Holmes and Liam Ridehalgh for Tuesday's game with Wycombe, so Donacien's arrival is a timely one.

The 20-year-old centre-back will be at Prenton Park until January after impressing manager Rob Edwards with his performances for Villa's Under-21 side.

"Janoi is a player I've watched a number of times for Villa's Under-21s," said Edwards.

"He's a good defender who is very athletic and will give us extra strength in depth at the back."

The Sky Bet League 2 also confirmed that Clayton McDonald, who recently penned non-contract terms, had left the club.

Defender McDonald made just one appearance for Tranmere, appearing off the bench in Saturday's 2-1 loss to Shrewsbury.
