Capital One Cup Round 3 TV games announced

28 August 2014

The Third Round Capital One Cup fixtures to be shown live on Sky Sports have been announced

Two matches in Round 3 of the Capital One Cup have been selected by Sky Sports for live television coverage, featuring four teams who have won the League Cup a total of 17 times between them.

First up, Liverpool host 2004 winners Middlesbrough in front of the cameras on Tuesday 23rd September with a 7:45pm kick-off.

The eight-time champions will take on Boro at Anfield having entered the competition at this stage, while the Sky Bet Championship outfit reached the Third Round following victories over Oldham Athletic and Preston North End.

History suggests this could be a tricky trip across the country for Aitor Karanka’s men; in their past 15 meetings the team playing away has never won, while Boro haven’t won at Anfield in 25 visits, since a 2-0 success in March 1976.

The Round 3 televised action continues 24 hours later, when Tottenham Hotspur welcome Nottingham Forest to White Hart Lane in another Premier League versus Sky Bet Championship encounter.

Although these clubs have come together 119 times previously, their last meeting was back in 2005 when Spurs came through in an FA Cup replay.  Another of those clashes was the 1991 FA Cup final, when Tottenham won 2-1 after extra-time. The Forest goal that day was scored by their current boss Stuart Pearce.

Both teams have won this competition four times previously but one will be knocked out before the Round 4 draw, which will take place immediately after the conclusion of Wednesday's live fixture.
