14 August 2014

Following the Capital One Cup Round 2 draw, managers up and down the country have been assessing their club's tie

In one of the stand-out ties in the Round 2 draw, 2013 runners-up Bradford City were drawn against Leeds United, and Bantams manager Phil Parkinson wants Valley Parade to be rocking for the Yorkshire derby.

He told The Telegraph and Argus: “I think it’s a great draw for the club. There’s nothing better than a Yorkshire derby and I know it’s going to be a cracking atmosphere.

“We really enjoyed our cup nights a few years ago and we worked hard to beat Morecambe the other night to earn ourselves another one.

“On the list of draws we wanted, this is one of the top ones.”

Oxford United's reward for overcoming Bristol City 2-1 in the First Round is a trip to Premier League West Bromwich Albion, in a match that will see United head coach Michael Appleton go up against his former club.

Oxford chief executive Mark Ashton told the Oxford Mail: “The players and fans deserved to go to a Premier League club after their magnificent efforts on Tuesday night.

“West Brom are a very well supported club and we don’t budget for anything beyond the first round of cup competitions, so whatever we earn will be a bonus.”

Dons boss Karl Robinson described it as a "dream tie".

“After beating AFC Wimbledon last night, we are now going to be playing one of the greatest ever football teams at stadiummk, all in our anniversary season,” Robinson told the Milton Keynes Citizen.
