We take a look at the numbers that make up the First Round of the 2014/15 Capital One Cup
1 – Crewe Alexandra teenager Billy Waters and Brighton and Hove Albion’s Lewis Dunk both scored their first senior goal on Tuesday. Waters’ came after 11 games for the club, while Dunk had to wait slightly longer, his arriving 69 games into his career.2 – Plymouth Argyle versus Leyton Orient and Dagenham and Redbridge versus Brentford were the two games to go to penalties with the away side prevailing in both.
2 – Two hat-tricks were scored across the 34 Round 1 fixtures; Nahki Wells for Huddersfield Town and Ben Williamson for Port Vale.
3 – Three former winners of the League Cup were all knocked out in Round 1 of the 2014/15 competition; Wolverhampton Wanderers, Luton Town and Blackburn Rovers.
4 – Dagenham and Redbridge’s Capital One Cup Round 1 game with Brentford was only the fourth ever instance of a 6-6 scoreline in English football.
4 – Port Vale and Charlton Athletic enjoyed the biggest winning margin in the First Round of the Capital One Cup. Vale beat Hartlepool United 6-2 and the Addicks saw off Colchester United 4-0.
7 – Seven matches in the Capital One Cup Round 1 went to extra-time.
7 – Seven teams progressed through to Round 2 by beating higher-league opposition; Scunthorpe United, Oxford United, Burton Albion, Crawley Town, Portsmouth, Shrewsbury Town and Northampton Town.
8 – Dagenham and Redbridge are still yet to make it past the First Round of the competition, having first entered eight seasons ago, in 2007/08.
8.3 – As part of the Capital One UK offer, kids aged 16 and under could watch Dagenham and Redbridge versus Brentford for just £1 when accompanied by an adult. Those that did received great value for money, seeing a goal for every 8.3 pence spent after a 6-6 draw over 120 minutes.
9 – Ipswich Town have now been knocked out of the competition by lower-league opposition in nine of the past 12 seasons.
12 – Dagenham’s 6-6 draw with Brentford was the joint-highest scoring game in League Cup history. The only other League Cup match to see 12 goals was Reading 5-7 Arsenal in October 2012
12 – Leeds United saw off Accrington Stanley 2-1 and in doing so maintained their 100% record in Round 1 of the tournament, winning 12 from 12.
18 – Ben Williamson’s hat-trick for Port Vale came in the first 18 minutes of the Valiants’ First Round tie with Hartlepool.
50 – Including new entrants from the Premier League, 50 teams will be involved in Round 2 of the 2014/15 Capital One Cup - five from Sky Bet League 2, 13 from Sky Bet League 1, 19 from the Sky Bet Championship and 13 from the top flight.
70 – The fastest goal in Round 1 of the 2014/15 Capital One Cup came at Ashton Gate where Joe Bryan put Bristol City 1-0 ahead against Oxford United after just 70 seconds. The Robins went on to lose 2-1.
110 – Over the 35 Round 1 games, 110 goals were scored, at a rate of 3.14 per game.
1011 – Marc-Antoine Fortune netted for Wigan Athletic in their loss at Burton Albion, ending a 1011-minute goal drought for the striker.
2002 – Bolton Wanderers and Bury came together in a competitive match for the first time in 12 years. Their most recent meeting before Tuesday was also in the League Cup, with Bury triumphing 1-0 in 2002.
13,407 – The biggest crowd at a First Round game in the 2014/15 Capital One Cup was at Elland Road, where over 13,000 fans watched Leeds' 2-1 win against Accrington.
