Brentford turn down bid for Adam Forshaw

3 August 2014

Brentford have turned down a bid from a fellow Championship club for midfielder Adam Forshaw.

Boss Mark Warburton says the offer, believed to be from Wigan, is nowhere near their valuation of the player and has unsettled him.

Forshaw, 22, was subsequently left out of the Bees side which beat Crystal Palace 3-2 in their latest pre-season friendly on Saturday.

Warburton said: "Adam Forshaw was the subject of a bid from a rival Championship club.

"That unsettles any player. Adam cares about the game and I have given him a few days to think about things.

"A bid is only a proper bid if it is at the right, realistic value. We have had a bid but it is nowhere near our valuation for a player that was League One Player of the Year last year.

"My disappointment is that I don't know if we have had a genuine bid or one to unsettle a player. I have to ask questions.

"The bid is nowhere near the level and I am more disappointed it is an unsettling affect than genuinely try to get him."
