Shrewsbury Town have been relegated from Sky Bet League 1 after a 4-2 defeat against Peterborough United.
The Shrews were six points adrift of safety going into the final two games of the season so knew that only a win against Posh would keep their slim hopes of survival alive.
But despite taking an early lead at the Greenhous Meadow, Mike Jackson's men couldn't hold onto their advantage.
They were promoted automatically from League 2 in 2011/12 and finished 16th last term in League 1, seven points above the relegation places on 55. They have amassed 41 points to date and sit bottom of the table with one game to play.
