Sheffield Wednesday to remember the 96

15 April 2014

Sheffield Wednesday will mark the 25th anniversary of the Hillsborough disaster at the club's annual memorial service at 3pm on Tuesday.

The service, in memory of the 96 Liverpool supporters who were killed at the Reds' FA Cup semi-final against Nottingham Forest in 1989, will take place at the permanent memorial on Parkside Road adjacent to the club's main entrance.

It will include a minute's silence and prayers for those who died, while Owls chairman Milan Mandaric will lay a wreath of flowers on behalf of the club.

"Everyone at Sheffield Wednesday FC would like to express ongoing sympathies to the families of those who lost their lives and the wider Liverpool community affected so deeply by the disaster," read a club statement.
