FA reject Hartlepool United red card appeal

23 April 2014

Hartlepool United have had their appeal against Simon Walton's dismissal in Monday's win against Morecambe turned down by the Football Association.

Pools contested Newcastle referee Scott Duncan's decision to show Walton a straight red card early in the second half of their 2-1 home win for his challenge on Jordan Mustoe after watching video footage of the incident.

But Pools' appeal has been rejected and Walton, sent off last month for two yellow-card offences at Oxford, must now serve a four-game ban.

The former Leeds, Charlton and Plymouth midfielder will miss Pools' last two games of the season - at Plymouth on Saturday and at home against Exeter on the final day - plus the first two games of the 2014/15 campaign.
