Blake returns to Forest

18 November 2013

On-loan Nottingham Forest midfielder Jack Blake has returned to the City Ground following the end of his month-long stay at Mansfield.

Blake made three Sky Bet League Two appearances for the Stags, all of them starts, during his time at the One Call Stadium - the last of which was a 3-0 defeat at Southend on November 1.

The teenager was brought in by Mansfield manager Paul Cox following the news that Chris Clements would be out for around four to six weeks with a knee injury.

With Clements now back in training and nearing a return, Cox feels he will be unable to give Blake, 19, much game time.

''I spoke to Jack yesterday and Forest today (Monday),'' said Cox. ''Even though he has done really well for us, it would be unfair to keep him here when we have players coming back from injury who will be higher in the pecking order than him.

''Chris Clements is coming back and we have one or two decent footballers in there.

''I had to be honest with Jack last Saturday for the FA Cup game and leave him out as, if we didn't extend the loan, I didn't want him to become cup-tied if he wanted to play for anyone else in the competition on another potential loan.

"Jack has been like a breath of fresh air to us but we are looking strong in that department now and I don't want to keep him here for the wrong reasons when we have players already contracted here who can do just as good a job."
