Wolverhampton Wanderers have been relegated from the npower Championship after a 2-0 defeat against Brighton and Hove Albion at the Amex Stadium.
The odds were stacked against Wolves before their match with the Seagulls even kicked off, as they were three points adrift of safety with an inferior goal difference compared to most other sides involved in the scrap at the foot of the division.
They needed a miracle to save them from a second successive demotion but it wasn't to be, with Kazenga LuaLua firing a brace for Brighton, who will now go into the Play-Offs with momentum.
Wolves' relegation to League 1 rounds off what has been a tough 18 months at the club, and they will hope to bounce back in the third tier, where they will be playing for the first time since promotion from that level in 1989.
