Posh relegated at the death

4 May 2013

Peterborough United have been relegated to League 1 after a 3-2 defeat at Crystal Palace.

It looked as though Posh would secure their Championship status for at least another season as they lead twice at Selhurst Park, through Lee Tomlin then Nathaniel Mendez-Laing, but goals from Glenn Murray and Kevin Phillips levelled the match, before Mile Jedinak scored a last-gasp winner for the Eagles, who secured their Play-Off place.

That result left Darren Ferguson's men on 54 points, one behind Barnsley who drew 2-2 with fellow strugglers Huddersfield Town.

Peterborough will join Bristol City and Wolverhampton Wanderers in League 1, a division they were promoted from via the Play-Offs in 2011.
